Anti – Fatigue Rubber Compounds

Engineered Rubber.
Built for Durability.

Most anti-fatigue solutions rely on cheap foam that bottoms out or gel that leaks. At SmartCells, we pair our world-class cushioning with advanced rubber chemistry. Whether you’re facing caustic oils, sensitive electronics, or sterile surgical suites, we have a compound engineered specifically for your environment.

Engineered Compounds for Your Environment

While the patented structure of SmartCells provides the ergonomic magic, the rubber compound determines how that mat survives in your specific workspace. From grease-slicked machine shops to sterile surgical suites, our advanced chemistry ensures your anti-fatigue solution remains durable, safe, and effective against the elements

SBR

Our Standard Workhorse

SBR is our tough, general-purpose rubber. It is the ideal “everyday” solution for industrial and commercial spaces that require high-durability cushioning without exposure to harsh chemicals.

Best For:
General manufacturing, assembly lines, and dry industrial workstations. It handles water-based cleaning solutions, weak acids like vinegar, and detergent solutions effectively.

Avoid Using In:
Environments with heavy exposure to fuels (gasoline, diesel), lubricating oils, or chlorinated solvents, as these will degrade the material.

EPDM

Our EPDM compound is heat-resistant and features lower VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) for better indoor air quality. It is highly stable and even autoclavable for specialized sanitation needs.

Best For: Indoor climate-controlled environments, facilities using hot water or steam (up to 135°C/275°F), and areas requiring frequent bleaching or acid/base cleaning.

Avoid Using In: Areas with petroleum-based oils, fuels, or hydraulic fluids, as EPDM has poor compatibility with these substances.

Antimicrobial

Built on our high-performance EPDM base, this compound is specifically infused with agents to inhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi. It is heat-resistant and autoclavable, making it the gold standard for sterile environments.

Best For: Hospitals, pharmacies, laboratories, and surgical suites where hygiene is as critical as comfort. It withstands rigorous bleaching and steam cleaning.

Avoid Using In: Industrial settings with heavy grease, petroleum oils, or aromatic hydrocarbons.

Nitrile

Nitrile (NBR) is our most rugged compound for harsh “wet” environments. It is specifically engineered to resist swelling and degradation when exposed to fats and petroleum products.

Best For: Machine shops, kitchens, and automotive facilities. It has excellent compatibility with vegetable oils, petroleum-based fuels, and silicone greases.

Avoid Using In: Environments involving strong bleach solutions, phosphate ester hydraulic fluids (like Skydrol), or ketones.

ESD

Our ESD compound is designed for environments where electricity is a constant factor. It safely dissipates static charges to protect both sensitive electronic components and your personnel.

Best For: Electronics manufacturing, server rooms, cleanrooms, and high-tech assembly lines where static discharge could ruin hardware.

Avoid Using In: While ESD is primarily for static control, if it uses an SBR or EPDM base, you should avoid the specific oils or acids listed for those materials respectively.

What Makes our Rubber Compounds Great?

Reduced Replacements

You buy once and it stays effective for years

Injury Preventio

Compounds like Nitrile and ESD helps prevent slips and static shocks

Employee Retention

Workers who aren’t in pain work harder and product more

Why Rubber is better than Foam and Gel

Traditional foam and gel mats eventually “bottom out” as their internal air bubbles or liquid centers shift and collapse under pressure. SmartCells rubber compounds are engineered for permanent molecular resilience, ensuring the surface returns to its original shape after every step

Resilient engineering maintains bounce-back better than foam or gel
High-performance SBR provides a tough, general-purpose solution.
Autoclavable rubber allows for high-heat sterilization up to 275°F.
Eco-friendly EPDM features lower VOCs for better air quality
Antimicrobial EPDM prevents bacterial growth in sterile healthcare environments
